Araki is a cameraman who left behind his wife and child in order to film and document the zombie epidemic. He saves Hideo and Hiromi on his way to the Subashiri 5th Station.

Araki dies during the refuge at the Outlet Mall. After a particularly dangerous zombie infiltrates their hideout, in an effort to protect a child, Araki coats himself in gasoline and leads the zombie away by getting its attention. When the zombie catches up to him, Araki sets himself and the zombie on fire, ultimately killing them both.
