Arikoto, a high-ranking monk and aristocrat from Kyoto, was summoned to Edo castle with his friars Gyokuei and Myokei to report his recent succession as Abbot to the Shogun. He quickly caught the attention of everyone with his handsome looks and grace—even the attention of the inner chamber's senior chamberlain Lady Kasuga whose initial hospitality turned into a plot to imprision Arikoto into forced service within the inner chambers.

He was stripped of his title, promotion, freedom, and had to renounce his priestly vows so that he may serve the shogun in her harem...
