Daichi Harusame is an otaku living in a 2D world. Constantly spurning the advances of his childhood friend Hotaru Minakami in favor of "Marin-tan," his virtual love. Because he does not want to betray "Marin-tan" he did not even try to pair up when the project began and hence became a part of it.
