Jeremy is a normal, healthy 16-years old boy living with his widowed mother, Sandra. When Sandra finds a new romantic interest, Greg, Jeremy first thinks that he might be ideal addition to the family, and make his mother a bit more happier in life. Until Greg starts sexually abusing him, threatening to break up with his mother. Wanting to keep her happy, Jeremy falls into the dark world Greg, now his stepfather, has prepared for him.

After Greg and Sandra's death, Jeremy plans on killing Ian, who suspects him of tempering with Greg's car and causing the accident, but after finding Sandra's diary, he tries to drown himself in nearby lake. Ian rescues him and forces him to confess to what he has done. Jeremy confesses, but Ian denies everything and tells him he imagined everything. He didn't believe what his father did until he found the mask, the rope and everything else Jeremy mentioned in his confession.

Jeremy returns to Boston and rents a flat in Combat Zone with Cass. He takes drugs and sells himself to make a living. After returning to England with Ian and because of Ian's obsession, he once again suffers from severe hallucinations, PTSD and mental instability. He feels responsible for his mother's death and his sense of guilt makes him unable to live normally, he returns to selling himself and thinks of it as a form of punishment for his sin. After Ian finds out about it, he forces Jeremy to go to counselling and makes him promise that he'll stop prostituting (instead, he makes Jeremy sleep with him). Because of Ian's stubborness, he's constantly reminded of being sexually abused by Greg and he often gets panic attacks, losing himself in his memories and reliving them anew. After some time, he decides to go back to school and he gradually gets better, but he still suffers whenever he comes back to Ian's appartment. He blames Sandra for knowing about him and Greg and not doing anything with it. He tells Ian he needs him to forget about everything but he can't live normally and suffers till the very end.
