Nao Kogure is a petite, shy girl who starts off as easily frightened and a bit of a coward, but throughout the series, she gains courage and self-confidence. She is intelligent and perceptive of how people feel and does everything to help others, especially her friends and family.

At first, she was scared to date Taiga Onise due to his appearance and delinquent reputation. However, after she gets to know him, she sees how truly kind he is and begins to fall in love with him.

Nao lives with her uncle Sousuke, who raised her ever since her parents passed away when she young. She initially believed she was in love with her uncle, but later realized what she felt wasn't romantic.
