Ryo is a model who is captivated by Tomie's beauty and eventually falls in love with her. After many attempts to woo her, each followed by a rejection, he goes insane and kidnaps, imprisons and tortures Tomie, determined to hurt her as much as possible.

Years later, Ryo shows up with a severely disfigured face, having made it his life's purpose to eradicate Tomie. He manages to trap the current iteration of her into a concrete block, which he spends the rest of his life watching over.
