Saika is Laika's mother. As she liked to engage in researching unusual phenomena, she was considered eccentric. Saika's research leads her to believe that extraterrestrial life forms may be responsible for the unusual occurrences in the area, but an accident claims her life before she can come across the Cosmofs, leaving Laika to be raised by her father and (mostly) Imori.
