Sakura Miki

Sakura Miki

Sakura is the twin sister of Aki, whom she'd only reconnected with recently as they had lived separately since their parents divorced when the two were young. Sakura is called to identify Aki's body and is suspicious of Mizorogi's involvement with her sister.

About her real identity:
Sakura is suspected by the police to be the former employee of an insurance company, who disappeared after it was discovered she'd been engaging in embezzlement. Sakura uses the identity of "Aki Fujino" at times and "Sakura Miki" is also a fake name; her real name is never revealed to the reader. She is also not actually related to Aki.

About Fujiko Akiyama:
Sakura meets Fujiko at a library and gets to read her manuscript of Utsubora before Fujiko sends it out to publishers. Both Sakura and Fujiko send copies of the Utsubora manuscript to Mizorogi's publisher: while one copy is taken by Mizorogi and passed off as his own writing, the other is in the possession of Tsuji (Mizorogi's editor), who hopes to strike it big by discovering the great new talent Aki Fujino.

After Fujiko gets cosmetic surgery to look identical to Sakura, Sakura cuts her hair short as a symbolic gesture of passing on the "Aki Fujino" persona to Fujiko.
