Viola is a 13-year-old girl living in a village on the edge of the forest that Ellen's house is located in. She lives with her father and takes care of the chores of the household. One day, she ventures into the forest despite her father's warnings and comes across Ellen's house and Ellen herself, who presents as a meek, sickly child used to hiding her suffering behind a polite smile. Viola's kindness and pity urge her to return to the house and keep Ellen company despite her being initially repulsed by Ellen's condition.

Viola is eventually tricked into giving her body for "just one day" to Ellen, who is close to death and in great pain. However, after the switch happens, Ellen (in Viola's body), reveals that she had never planned to switch back, leaving Viola in her own, dying body. However, Viola doesn't resign herself to death, discovering that Ellen's body still held traces of her magic and using it to trap Ellen within the forest in an attempt to get her original, healthy body back.

At the end of the game:
After Ellen (in Viola's body) escapes the house (now under Viola's control, using the magic left over in Ellen's original body) being chased by a dying Viola, she comes across Viola's father. Horrified by the "monster", the man shoots her, never knowing that he actually shot his own daughter.
